Founded in 1981 by Peter Cooper, the Peter Cooper Motor Group (PCMG) has continually expanded and is now proudly celebrating over 45 years in business.
Peter Cooper opened the doors to his first car showroom in Hedge End, Southampton, with a vision to create a company built on hiring the best local talent and delivering an unparalleled level of customer care. This commitment quickly made the company a well-known name in Southampton, with the roundabout outside the showroom becoming a local landmark, affectionately known as ‘Coopers Roundabout’.
Peter’s vision evolved into a legacy family-run business when his son, Darren Cooper, took on the role of managing director in 2006 at the age of 31. At that time, the group comprised three Volkswagen franchises, a body repair centre, and approximately 165 staff members.
Fast forward to today: Darren Cooper now leads a thriving automotive group operating across Southampton, Portsmouth, Chichester and Horsham, with 23 businesses and nearly 300 employees supporting customers across the South Coast.
The Peter Cooper Motor Group has grown to over 50,000 loyal customers and continues to expand while remaining committed to the same values it was founded on more than four decades ago.
