Volkswagen Group sells 1.73 million vehicles worldwide in first quarter
Volkswagen Group’s Q1 deliveries are up by almost a quarter over the
same period in 2009, with sales of 1.73 million vehicles. Volkswagen
contributed significantly to these excellent results, selling 1.11
million vehicles worldwide (27 per cent up on Q1 2009). The Golf was by
far the most popular model, with worldwide deliveries totalling 164,500
(37.1 per cent higher), followed by the Polo with 132,900 (30.8 per cent
higher). In China, the Brand’s largest individual market, 362,600 cars
had been delivered by the end of March, which is 53.8 per cent up on the
same period last year.
‘The passenger car market is showing
clear signs of a revival in many parts of the world,’ said Christian
Klingler, Volkswagen Group Board Member for Sales. ‘We are benefiting
thanks to our innovative, young and environmentally friendly models.’
