The Peter Cooper Motor Group, established in 1981 by Peter Cooper, has become a trusted name in automotive retail, representing four Volkswagen dealerships, two Omoda and Jaecoo dealerships, a Vehicle Trade Centre, a Kia dealership, and two Prestige Car sites. Over the years, the group has grown steadily, and in 2021, we proudly celebrated 40 years of success in the industry.
Peter Cooper opened his first car showroom in Hedge End, Southampton, with a clear vision: to build a company focused on hiring the best local talent and delivering exceptional customer care. This unwavering commitment quickly made the business a household name in Southampton, with the nearby roundabout affectionately dubbed ‘Coopers Roundabout.’ Today, our Kia franchise operates from this very first location, where it all began.
Peter’s vision evolved into a family-run legacy when his son, Darren Cooper, took on the role of Managing Director in 2006 at just 31 years old. At that time, the group included three Volkswagen franchises, a Body Repair Centre, and around 100 employees.
Today, we are proud to operate 22 thriving businesses across nine locations, spanning Shirley and Hedge End in Hampshire to Chichester and Horsham in West Sussex.
