Latest Motability Scheme updates regarding COVID-19

The Government announcements regarding COVID-19 are having a major impact on the Motability Scheme. Our showrooms are now closed meaning they are unable to accept any new orders, manage handovers or car returns.

In addition, as Motability are unable to accept any new orders, they have also not updated the prices for the Motability Scheme that would normally become available on 1 April 2020. We are of course in touch with Motability and will advise when this changes.

For those customers approaching the end of their lease, Motability will automatically extend the lease for six months. There is no need to contact Motability, or your retailer, as this will be done automatically; and you will of course continue to be insured.

If you were planning to leave the Scheme at the end of your lease, please contact Motability to discuss arrangements.

Just as soon as we safely can we will re-open for new applications as well as arranging vehicle handovers.

We look forward to welcoming you to collect your new Volkswagen when the scheme gets back up and running.

This statement is correct as of 1st April 2020.

Please visit both the Governments and Motability’s’ website to obtain the very latest information available. Text here ...

Motability

Rely on us if you rely on Motability.

We support the leading car scheme helping disabled people who receive specific allowances to buy or lease cars. Our expert team will guide you from your initial query to the handover of your new vehicle.

What is Motability?

The Motability Scheme offers an all-inclusive package that allows anyone in receipt of either: the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HMRC DLA), the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP), the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP), to use their mobility allowance to lease a car, scooter, powered wheelchair or wheelchair accessible vehicle. In fact, since the Scheme was set up in 1978, Motability has helped over 3 million people get mobile with a new vehicle.Watch their short video here to find out more.

Why choose Motability?

There are many reasons why to choose Motability, in fact, there are currently over 640,000 people enjoying the benefits of Motability. The following are included in our worry-free package:

A brand new car, powered wheelchair or scooter every three years, or Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) every five years Annual vehicle tax
Replacement tyres (and batteries for scooters and wheelchairs)

60,000 mileage allowance over three years for cars; 100,000 for WAVs
Insurance, servicing and maintenance Windscreen repair or replacement Many adaptations at no extra cost
Two named drivers for your car Full breakdown assistance

Who is eligible?

If you currently receive higher rate Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement, The Peter Cooper Motor Group can help you take advantage of a range of benefits that will go well beyond what the normal Blue Badge Holder might expect.

If you don’t drive but are entitled to the Government funded Motability allowance, you can nominate two drivers who can drive on your behalf. These can be friends, family or even carers.

What are the benefits?

  • A new car of your choice every three years
  • Insurance
  • Servicing and maintenance
  • Full breakdown assistance from RAC
  • Annual car tax
  • Replacement tyres fitted by Kwik Fit
  • Window and windscreen repair or replacement
  • 60,000 mileage allowance over three years
  • Many adaptations at no extra cost

If you don’t drive but are entitled to the Government funded Motability allowance, you can nominate two drivers who can drive on your behalf. These can be friends, family or even carers.

The HRMC-DLA can be awarded to disabled children aged three and above. So, if you are a parent or guardian of a child who receives the allowance, you can order a car for use on their behalf. As long as you, or your child, receives either the HRMC-DLA or WPMS you are eligible to lease a car through Motability.
